The Institute grants an annual scholarship to needy and meritorious
While serving the nation, The GTTI has undertaken many social service schemes. It provides free training at the Shramik Vidyapiths run by the Union and State Governments.

It has also undertaken social welfare schemes through CASA, a voluntary organisation, for the training of handicapped persons, war widows, distressed women, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.

Many of these trainees have been provided with a monthly stipend through the H.P. Dutta, Santilata Dutta and Prodyut Dutta Memorial Schemes.

The Institute grants an annual scholarship to needy and meritorious students under the Prodyut Dutta Social Welfare Scheme. Applicants for the scholarship have to sit for an entrance test and appear for an interview. The value of the scholarship ranges from 100% to 25% of applicable course fees subject to results obtained in the test process. The annual scholarship schemes opens in November and closes on the penultimate day of December.
